HAGAR Exam December 7th at 9 am in shop RSVP

Thursday, November 14, 2013

Dear Pilots

Well we finally succeeded in booking Transport Canada to come and administer the HAGAR in exam in our shop.
We will have it on Saturday, December 7th at 9am in the Cochrane.

The reason this exam is SPECIAL is because you need to have it in order to fly XC in Canada as well as to complete your HPAC Advanced rating. If you have any interest in becoming an Instructor you also need to have passed this exam.
This exam is normally only administered at Airport Flight Schools and they usually charge over 100$ every time. So I recommend everyone get on this while they can as we cannot guarantee when it will come again to the shop.

Don't forget about Doug Skye's very important Study session on November 26 at 6:30pm. He will be covering everything needed to pass the HAGAR exam as well as many of the questions on the HPAC exams. Please RSVP fly@mullerwindsports.com for the study session

Date: Saturday December 7th at 9:00am
Location: Muller Windsports Shop
Please RSVP to fly@mullerwindsports.com if your coming for this exam writing
Please Bring:
Ruler, Pencil. Paper, Calculator, Medical Declaration, Identification
Please bring a photo copy of your drivers Licence or passport or BOTH
Before we can have a candidate take the exam, we do need to see picture ID, and if they already have an aviation medical or pilot licence, or have taken an exam before, we will need their file number.  If you have a photocopier on site, we will take copies of the ID for new applicants while we are there.
There is no fee for this exam, but candidates must have a Category 1, 3 or 4 medical in order to take the exam.  If they hold a valid medical they will need to show proof, if not, they can fill out  a Medical Declaration for the Category 4 on-site.  I will bring some forms, and the forms are available online at:

September Update

Hi Everyone

It has been an amazing Fall session after such a horrible Spring session. It has been soarable at least 3 nights a week since early August with plenty of student flying as well as keeping the more advanced pilots happy as well. So far the forecast for the next little while looks good as well.

I have organized an SIV in Utah for the October long weekend and have a couple spots left so if your interested please let me know.

The Fall High Flight Course is set for Sept. 27, 28 and 29 and hopefully the weather will hold on so we can have a beautiful weekend out in Golden.

We are also planning a day for a work party to get some of the maintenance of the hill that I cant do alone. Rick and I will come up with a list of things that need to be done.

Hope everyone is doing well and get your self out flying this fall in the amazing weather

Golden is coming up in one month so lets get flying.
I have updated the schedule for the Ground Schools so please make sure you get to those.

A reminder that you do NOT need to complete Ground School in order to get flying so please call if you want to come flying and practice. The Ground Schools can be completed after you have had a few flights.

Movie Night..Everyone Welcome

Date: Friday, March 22, 2013
Place: Muller Windsports Shop at the Cochrane Flying Site
Time: 7:00pm
No charge

We have some new hang glider and paraglider movies and have planned a movie night during our annual Instructors Course.

A highlight for hang glider pilots is the newly released "Live the Dream", the story of a young girl starting hang gliding first by aero towing and then learning to foot launch.  A different way to learn to hang gliding and very entertaining.

We also have the history of hang gliding in Western Canada, a Heritage Project by John Janssen's daughter Nikky.  She did a great job and it's fun to watch.

Keith has assembled new paragliding movies that we will also show.  There will be something for everyone.

We are hoping for a good social evening and the chance to meet some of the new pilots who have moved into the Calgary area.  We are hoping for no snow that weekend!
